Kelly Galloup
Kelly Galloup didn’t just grow up fly fishing—he helped redefine how people do it. Originally from Michigan, Kelly cut his teeth chasing trout in the Midwest before heading west, where bigger water and bigger fish demanded a different approach. What followed was a career built on asking better questions about how trout actually feed—and then building flies and techniques to match.
Over the past few decades, Kelly has become one of the most influential streamer anglers in the sport. His patterns, presentations, and unapologetically aggressive style have shaped how a generation of anglers think about moving big fish. From his home base at the Slide Inn on the Madison River, Kelly continues to guide, teach, and tinker—never quite satisfied that he’s figured it all out.
For Kelly, fly fishing isn’t about tradition for tradition’s sake. It’s about effectiveness, curiosity, and a willingness to do things differently if it means finding better answers.
