Nick Minesinger
There are people you want to fish with because they’re super fishy, and then there are people you want to fish with because they’re just fun to be around. Nick Minesinger happens to be both.
Nick was born and raised in Ohio and grew up with a fishing rod in his hands chasing bass on farm ponds. One day, Nick discovered a fly rod in his dad’s garage, which he immediately started using to harass small stream smallmouth. His penchant for travel and passion for both fly fishing and photography led him to Alaska and North Carolina where he guided a few seasons. His resume includes stints with independent video production houses, film school, comedy sketch writing, and generally wandering about the world capturing compelling moments through the viewfinder.
Nick eventually found his way to Schultz Outfitters in Michigan, where he gets to combine his myriad loves of smallmouth, fly fishing, video production, guiding, and goofing around with buddies. Nick lives in Mason, MI with his wife, Ashley and their dog, Wes.
Things About Nick
Best fishing snack: Duke's hatch green chile sticks, no question.
Guilty pleasure fly: Todd's wiggle minnow.
Most overrated fish: I can't imagine a fish being overrated.
Most underrated fish: Bluegill, they don't get enough respect. Give me a 4-weight and some gills on a late summer day and I'm a happy camper. More colorful than a brook trout and a pound for pound menace. If they grew to 10 pounds, I would be a bluegill guide.
More Things About Nick
Favorite knot: Blood knot. Ditch the double surgeon’s.
Waders smell like...: On a good day, fish.
One person, living or dead, you wish you could fish with: Larry Dahlberg would definitely be top of the list.
The best part about fly fishing: The daily adjustments to conditions. We're not here to tell fish what to eat; we're here to listen and adapt.
