Ryan Nixon
Ryan Nixon started guiding fly anglers when he was a student at Western State College in Colorado. More than 15 years later, he’s still rowing and wading trout rivers with clients. In an industry that chews up guides faster than Appleby’s turns over tables at Happy Hour, Ryan’s one of those rare individuals who turned guiding into a profession. After working on most of the famed (and many not-so-famed) waters in Colorado and Wyoming, he relocated to Livingston, Montana eight years ago, near the banks of the Yellowstone River. Ryan’s fished and guided most of the hallowed tailwaters of the American West, but he chose to make the longest remaining undammed river in the continental United States his home water. We think that says a lot about Ryan’s perspective.
Recently, Ryan’s been spending his offseasons learning and exploring saltwater, from shallow flats to blue water. No matter where he fishes, who he’s with, or what he’s targeting, Ryan brings an infectious curiosity to fly fishing.
