Why Fusion Works
The 3DeFX+ insulation we use is a big part of what makes our cold weather gear so effective. Designed and built by Japanese advanced materials manufacturer Toray, it’s the synthetic insulation we use in the 3/2 Puffy, Fusion Hybrid, Fusion 90 Pant, Snap Shirt, and RS Outpost Jacket.

Like a Hurricane, With Snow
We gave prototypes of our new RS Outpost Jackets to three of the fishiest, most discerning anglers we know and asked them to give us their honest, unvarnished opinions. None of these people are on the Skwala payroll. They are not Skwala Ambassadors. We didn’t even cover their bar tabs.

Eyes on the Horizon
We’re nearly one quarter of the way through the 21st Century. If you’re grown enough to remember the Y2K freak out, that sentence may make you feel, um, not young. But while the current century has been old enough to legally drink for several years now, Skwala Fly Fishing is just about to complete our third trip round the sun.

Skwala Partner Profile: Wild Steelhead Coalition
Conservation content can be a bummer, especially when it comes to steelhead. The past couple decades have delivered a near-constant flood of unhappy messaging. Wild steelhead populations have cratered, and fish that were always somewhat challenging to catch (on flies, anyway) have become nearly mythical. Most of us here at Skwala call ourselves steelhead anglers, and we know steelhead populations face enormous challenges, challenges far too big for any of us to tackle them as individuals (or even small companies). That’s why we support the Wild Steelhead Coalition and hope you will consider doing the same.

Who's Minding the Store
When you contact Skwala, you don’t get connected with a call center or passed off to a third-party customer support network. You talk to one of us, our core team of anglers right here in Bozeman, Montana. Chances are, you’ll probably talk to Scott Battista.

Of Mice and Men
It’s Alaska season and that means troves of anglers are packing up their waders, jackets and rods for the remote waters of our 49th State. This week in the Skwala Lounge, Rich Hohne describes his recent trip to Alaska fishing for large rainbows and how the tactics we use can be as important as the fish we target.

High-Country Escapism
On many mainstem trout rivers, August, not April, marks the cruelest month. Peak fishing pressure often coincides with lethal, or near lethal, water conditions for cold water salmonids. It’s enough to make you want to hole up and beat your liver for a few weeks.
